Mathew graduated from Actors Centre Australia (ACA) in 2016. 

 

His theatre acting credits include: Window Dressing (Vivid Sydney, 2024), The 78-Storey Treehouse (CDP, national tour, 2023-2024), Darwin's Reptilia (Jackrabbit/Belvoir 25A, 2023), Edward the Emu (Monkey Baa, national tour, 2022-2023), The 13-Storey Treehouse (CDP, interstate tour, 2021-2022), The Midnight Gang (CDP, national tour, 2021), The Campaign (White Box, Seymour Centre, 2020), Table (White Box Theatre, Seymour Centre, 2019), The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (Little Eggs & JackRabbit Theatre, KXT, 2019), Pinocchio (Little Eggs, Sydney Fringe, 2018), Are We Awake? (Sotto, KXT, 2018) and A Period Piece (Glitterbomb, Old 505, 2017).

Mathew is originally from Newcastle, where he performed for many years with independent company Stooged Theatre. Mathew appeared in their productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream (Newcastle Civic Playhouse and Gloucester Shakespeare Festival, 2010), Rio Saki and Other Falling Debris (Newcastle Civic Playhouse, 2011), All in the Timing (Newcastle Civic Playhouse, 2016) and The Dark Room (Newcastle Civic Playhouse, 2018). He was awarded the City of Newcastle Drama Award for Excellence by a Lead Actor in Grace (Knock & Run, Newcastle Civic Playhouse, 2017) and Excellence by a Supporting Actor in The Witches of Eastwick (NDAC, Newcastle's Civic Theatre, 2010).
